A recently retired HSE inspector with 29 years of practice in health and safety regulation I have acquired a deep understanding of legal/technical health and safety standards across a range of industries/topics and crucially am able to strike the balance between industry standards and duty holder compliance level. I do this by application of sound inspectorial judgement on risk foreseeability and the reasonable practicability of proposed remedies to identified breaches. My experience encompasses development of international and national standards, setting of enforcement standards (Scots Law) and inspection/investigation of complex technical/ legal issues and appearance as an expert witness. As a self-motivated individual with good organisational, interpersonal and managerial skills I have developed strong working relationships at all levels of business and government and am uniquely placed to deliver a high quality and timely client focused service.
